The 27th AMT cruise has now departed from Southampton in the UK on board the RRS Discovery and will spend the next 6 weeks traversing 13,000km across the Atlantic collecting scientific data and samples, ending its journey in the Falklands on the 5th November 2017.
This is now the second AMT cruise that has supported the AMT4SentinelFRM project and allowed for Fiducial Reference Measurements to be possible across such a large transect.
A variety of instrumentation has been set up and attached to the front facing areas of the ship including: ISAR, C-Band Radar and other radiation sensors to collect key in situ measurements to validate data for the fleet of Europe’s Sentinel-1, -2 and -3 satellites.
